[[w:Thomas Malthus|'''Thomas Robert Malthus''']] (ˈtʰɒməs ˈɹʷɒbət ˈmælθəs) (Surrey, 13 de febrero de 1766-Bath, 29 de diciembre de 1834) fue un [[Sacerdote|clérigo]] anglicano y [[Erudición|erudito]] [[Reino Unido|británico]] con gran influencia en la [[W:Economía política|economía política]] y la [[W:Demografía|demografía]].<br/>Miembro desde 1819 de la [[W:Royal Society|Royal Society]], popularizó la [[teoría]] de la renta económica y es célebre por la publicación anónima en 1798 del libro [[W:Ensayo sobre el principio de la población|Ensayo sobre el principio de la población]].
